My friend owns a Dairy farm. The cows have to be brought in from the field, through a narrow corral to milk. Sometimes it’s too muddy to get the ATV through. So.. Multirotor FPV herding was born!

    • admin says:

Thats cool Rich, has he captured that on video… maybe we should send a drone pilot out there to capture that? Whereabouts are you located?

      • Rich Melton says:

We’re in Turlock, California.. I’ll have to get my camera out there bright and early one morning. Once I’ve got my F550 set up so I can get some decent flight times, I’ll add the gimbal and film the whole thing from the sky.

Maybe you have some idea what’s going wrong..?

I can’t seem to get more than 8 minutes, from a new Turnigy Multistar 10,000mah battery, designed for multirotors.
They’re only 10-20C but at 10Amps, I should have tons of power and flight time, But after a few minutes, NAZA blinks on the low voltage warning and I have to land.

Weird thing is, after the battery rests for half an hour, I have a whole extra volt just magically go back into the battery from thin air! … I can fly for about the same time again, before the low voltage light comes on once more.

I have Lipo alarms that back up the fact this is actually happening, and I test the Voltage on various meters, so I know it’s not a simple bad reading from Naza.

Some times I can fly three times, for 6-8 minutes at a time, on the same charge, just with half hour gaps between, – never all at once.

What do you think that’s all about?

        Cheers!

I also spotted a great video about a guy in Canada who was hired by a local municipal park to “teach” the undesirable Canada goose population to stay out of a certain part of a lake by repeatedly lunging the sUAV at them like a predator hawk would (without hurting them of course). As I recall the documented a significant decrease after only a few days or weeks of this activity. I guess you’d call this a “Waterfowl Control” use for drones :) Just found the link:

[…] Amazon recently announced that it is testing the use of drones for package delivery. Yet industry watchers don’t think package delivery is the killer app; instead they see a wide adoption pattern emerging across a number of industries, including aviation, city/government, construction, disaster response, education, engineering, environment/climate, inspections, insurance, mapping, marketing, maritime, meteorology, mining/oil & gas, real estate, tourism, utilities, and videography/photography. (For a comprehensive overview of drone adoption, see “THE DRONES REPORT: Market forecasts, regulatory barriers, top vendors, and leading commercial applications,” https://www.businessinsider.com/uav-or-commercial-drone-market-forecast-2015-2#ixzz3b4laFCT.) BI Intelligence now predicts “12% of an estimated $98 billion in cumulative global spending on aerial drones over the next decade will be for commercial purposes.” This means a wide swath of workers will be impacted by the deployment of drone technology. (For more details on the high growth industries, see “20 great UAV applications areas for Drones.” https://air-vid.com/wp/20-great-uav-applications-areas-drones/) […]
